da Vinci® Robotic Surgeries
State-of-the-Art Robotic Surgery
A more recent advancement in urology surgery procedures involves the use of robotic assistance for greater precision during surgery. Urology surgeons have used the da Vinci® System successfully for approximately 1.5 million surgical procedures. Here at Orange County Urology Associates, we use the daVinci Robotic System for many selected procedures that include:
- Laparoscopic radical da Vinci robotic prostatectomy (prostate removal treatment for prostate cancer)
- Laparoscopic da Vinci pyeloplasty (kidney reconstructive surgery)
- Laparoscopic partial da Vinci nephrectomy (kidney removal for kidney cancer treatment)
- Laparoscopic da Vinci cystoprostatectomy (removal or urinary bladder and prostate)
We perform these procedures using daVinci robotic assistance to achieve greater precision and obtain better outcomes.
An extension of the surgeon’s hand
With the da Vinci system, we can operate through just a few small incisions. The system features tiny “wristed” instruments that can bend and rotate far more precisely than the human wrist. As a result, we operate with enhanced vision from 3D magnification plus greater precision, manual dexterity and control. Minimally invasive da Vinci can be beneficial for routine and complex surgeries. With the da Vinci system, we are taking surgery beyond the anatomical limits of the human hand.
